Meet Macon's Staff
Thomas Kehl
Medical Director
Dr. Kehl was born in Ashland, Ohio, and grew up in Warner Robins, Georgia. He graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Psychology. He taught and coached in Warner Robins for a brief period prior to attending the Medical College of Georgia, where he earned a Master's Degree in Anatomy and his medical degree He completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and currently concentrates on gynecology and women's health.
Stephen Durso
Dr. Durso was born in New York and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He received a BA in Anthropology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed a four-year OB/GYN residency program at the Medical Center of Central Georgia and joined the practice in 2001. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. His practice interests include comprehensive gynecology, preventive healthcare, and high risk obstetrics. His interests include spending time with his family and three young children, reading, gardening, and traveling.
John Barnes, MD
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where his father practiced obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. John J. Barnes received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and completed a surgical internship in Birmingham, AL, and his obstetrics and gynecology training at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. He moved to Macon, GA, in 1995, joining Drs. Schuessler, Pope, and Kehl in a private obstetrics practice. He is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. Dr. Barnes and his wife Kimberly have nine children. He is a member of Ingleside Baptist Church.
Kay Griggs
Originally from Macon, GA, she has now lived in Gray, GA for 10 years. Previously she worked in the pediatric field for 15 years prior to joining Medi-Weightloss® in 2009. She has enjoyed her time here starting as a receptionist and now transitioning all the way to her position as office manager. She prides herself on continuing to learn about new and emerging trends with in the weight loss field so that she can better help to serve the patients of the clinic by helping to reinforce program details and assist other staff where needed. Kay is married and has three children. She enjoys sewing, crafts, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
