FAQs
How is Medi-Weightloss different from other weight loss programs?
What makes us different is that we combine real, in-person medical care with clinical research and a plan built around you — not a one-size-fits-all diet or an online-only app. At Medi-Weightloss, you’ll work directly with our doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, who monitor your progress, adjust your plan, and support you through weight loss and long-term maintenance. We call it The Medi Difference®, and it’s why we’re known as The One That Works®.
Is Medi-Weightloss medically supervised?
Yes — every Medi-Weightloss patient is medically supervised. Our program is physician-led and delivered in person at our 130+ clinic locations, where you’ll meet regularly with licensed medical providers. During your Acute and Short-Term Maintenance phases you’ll see us weekly; in the Wellness phase, monthly. If medication is part of your plan, it’s prescribed and monitored by a Medi-Weightloss provider — never a questionnaire alone.
What happens during the first consultation?
Your first consultation is where your personalized plan begins. We’ll review your complete medical and health history, run a blood panel and EKG, perform a body composition analysis, and talk through your goals. Based on your results, one of our providers will build a treatment plan around your metabolic rate, health profile, and preferences, then walk you through nutrition education, supplement recommendations, and — if clinically appropriate — weight loss medication options.
How is my weight loss plan personalized?
Your plan is personalized to your body, your health, and your goals. At your new patient visit, we review your medical history, lab work, and body composition, then build a plan around your unique metabolic rate and personal preferences. As you progress, we adjust your nutrition, supplements, and — if applicable — medication at your weekly visits so your plan keeps working as your body changes. That’s how we turn weight loss into a real, sustainable lifestyle change.
What phases are included in the Medi-Weightloss program?
The Medi-Weightloss Program moves through three phases: Acute Weight Loss, Short-Term Maintenance, and Wellness. In the Acute phase, we help you lose weight quickly and safely with weekly provider visits. Once you reach your goal, Short-Term Maintenance helps you rebalance your diet and lock in your results. Finally, the Wellness phase focuses on long-term sustainment with monthly check-ins, advanced metabolic testing, and strategies to keep your weight off for life.
What kind of support do patients receive during the program?
You’re never doing this alone. You’ll meet regularly with our medical team — doctors, nurse practitioners, and healthcare professionals — for in-person check-ins, body composition analysis, nutrition education, and plan adjustments. You’ll also get access to our patient membership website, signature supplement and product recommendations, and personalized coaching on lifestyle, stress, and behavior change. That real, face-to-face accountability is why our patients succeed.
Is Medi-Weightloss focused on short-term or long-term results?
Both. We’re built for fast, safe weight loss in the Acute phase, and for keeping the weight off for life. After you reach your goal, we transition you into Short-Term Maintenance and then Wellness, where monthly check-ins, advanced metabolic testing, and our MediLiving approach focus on long-term sustainment. Staying connected with your Medi-Weightloss provider is the secret to keeping your results for good.
Do I have to follow a strict diet on the Medi-Weightloss program?
No — our program isn’t a strict or prepackaged diet. You’ll eat real food you buy at your own grocery store, supplemented by our Medi-Weightloss Signature Products when helpful. We educate you on the right food choices and portion sizes so you build habits that last, and our Signature Menus® take the guesswork out for patients who want meal planning simplified. Many of our patients also report reduced hunger and increased energy.
Can I do Medi-Weightloss if I have a busy schedule?
Yes — our program is designed to fit real, busy lives. Most patients visit their local Medi-Weightloss clinic weekly during the Acute and Short-Term Maintenance phases, then monthly during Wellness. Appointments are efficient and focused, you can book online at your local clinic, and with 130+ locations nationwide there’s almost always a clinic close to home or work. Telehealth options are also available at many locations to support you between visits.
Is this program a good fit if I have tried other diets before?
Yes — in fact, many of our patients come to us after years of other diets, fad plans, or online-only programs. What makes Medi-Weightloss different is that we combine real medical supervision, clinical research, and a plan customized to your body, so you’re not just repeating what didn’t work before. Your provider reviews your history, identifies what’s been holding you back, and builds a plan designed to finally deliver results.
What happens if I hit a weight loss plateau?
Plateaus are normal, and we’re built to help you break through them. At your weekly visit, your provider will review your labs, body composition, and habits to find what’s stalling your progress — then adjust your nutrition, supplements, activity, or medication as needed. Tools we use include our Plateau Buster supplement blend, muscle-preservation protocols, behavioral coaching, and hormone optimization when hormones are part of the picture.
What medical tests are required before starting?
At your Medi-Weightloss New Patient Visit, we run a comprehensive medical work-up that typically includes a full medical and health history, a blood panel, an EKG, and a body composition analysis. For adolescents, we also perform a resting metabolic rate analysis via indirect calorimetry. If you’ve recently had a physical, EKG, or blood work completed by your primary care physician, those results are acceptable — just sign a release form at your Initial Consultation.
How often are medical check-ins required?
How often you check in depends on your phase. During Acute Weight Loss and Short-Term Maintenance, you’ll visit your local Medi-Weightloss clinic weekly so we can track progress, run body composition analysis, and adjust your plan. Once you reach your goal and transition into Wellness, you’ll check in monthly for continued support and advanced metabolic analysis.
What happens during weekly check-ins?
During weekly check-ins, your Medi-Weightloss provider reviews your progress and adjusts your plan so you keep moving forward. A typical visit includes body composition analysis, weigh-in and measurements, a review of your nutrition and habits, side-effect monitoring if you’re on medication, and updates to your plan — plus short education on lifestyle, portions, and behavior. We want you to leave every visit with clear next steps.
What kind of coaching or accountability is included?
Coaching and accountability are built into every Medi-Weightloss visit. You’ll meet in-person with our medical team for progress reviews, nutrition and fitness education, and behavioral coaching on emotional eating, stress, sleep, and hormone-related weight challenges. You’ll also have access to our patient membership website for resources between visits — so you always have guidance when you need it.
Will I get a meal plan or nutrition guidance?
Yes — nutrition is a core part of every Medi-Weightloss plan. You’ll receive personalized nutrition plans and education based on your metabolic rate, health profile, and preferences. Our program is not prepackaged — you’ll eat real food from your grocery store, supplemented by Medi-Weightloss Signature Products. For patients who want meal planning simplified, Medi-Weightloss Signature Menus® take the guesswork out with ready-to-follow menus.
Are supplements, injections, or vitamins part of the program?
Yes — supplements and, at many locations, vitamin and nutrient injections are part of the Medi-Weightloss experience. Your provider may recommend our Signature Supplements — like Multivitamin+, Omega-3s, Probiotics, or our Plateau Buster blend — to support metabolism, gut health, and muscle preservation. Many locations also offer specialty injections like our Medi-Bolic Booster (B12, Methionine, Inositol, Choline), L-Lean (L-Carnitine), and Muscle Guard Booster.
