John holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
John came to Medi-Weightloss® after a long career with Eastman Kodak Company, Thomson, and Roche Diabetes Care.
Through John’s experience in the diabetes care industry, he witnessed how obesity is a chronic, progressive disease that often leads to a variety of serious health conditions, such as Type 2 diabetes. He’s committed to enhancing the wellness of central Indiana residents.
Outside of work John spends his time road cycling, reading, and keeping in touch with his two adult daughters who live out of state. With his wife, Margaret, he enjoys getting together with friends and playing tennis.
Angie Howald, NP-BC
Nurse Practitioner
Angie is a board-certified adult and gerontology nurse practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Indianapolis and her Master of Science in nursing from Indiana University. She has over 15 years of nursing experience, specializing in cardiology. Prior to joining Medi-Weightloss, she practiced as a cardiology nurse practitioner for 7 years and is experienced in treating hypertension, high cholesterol, heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and congestive heart failure. She also often collaborated with endocrinologists to coordinate patients’ diabetic regimen with their cardiac care.
She has always had a desire to help prevent obesity-related medical conditions including, but not limited to, hypertension, high cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes. She was excited when the opportunity arose to join the team at Medi-Weightloss. She has found increased job satisfaction by providing patients with the tools, emotional support, and ongoing encouragement needed to help patients in their weight loss journey. She finds it extremely rewarding to see patients’ blood pressure and cholesterol decrease; to see diabetic patients who have been able to stop their diabetic medications; and, to hear from patients about how much better they feel, how much more energy they have, and to watch their confidence build.
In her personal life, she is a mom to a near-teenage daughter and two miniature schnauzer puppies. She loves music (especially live), being near lakes, oceans, and rivers, traveling, painting, eating healthy, and working out. Her dream in life is to live on a body of water with a clear view of the sunset.
Angie is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Nurses Association, and the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). She is currently working on becoming certified in advanced education in obesity medicine through the OMA.
Amy Sprunger, FNP-C

Amy Sprunger is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Amy has over 20 years of work experience in health care. She started her career in a geriatric community wellness program after she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a minor in Health Systems Administration from Indiana University. She participated in a variety of community health initiatives and research programs to expand services to the elderly population in Marion County, Indiana. She later returned to school to pursue clinical training and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Indiana University. She worked in critical care as a bedside nurse on a medical and surgical intensive care unit for 12 years before returning to school once again and graduating with a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Indiana. Amy has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in primary care and occupational health services as well as in an ICU Survivor's Program. Throughout her career, she has long realized the value of promoting preventative health and wellness to decrease chronic disease and morbidity. She enjoys working for Medi-Weightloss® and helping patients realize their potential to achieve their weight loss goals and be their own best health and wellness advocate.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys traveling, listening to live music, reading a good book, discovering and attempting new home DIY projects and going on new adventures with friends and family.
Laurin Pressley, FNP-C
Nurse Practitioner
Laurin Pressley is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She started her healthcare career
graduating with an Associate of Science degree from Lincoln Trail College with her licensed
practical nurse certification and began working with the geriatric population. She then graduated
from Lakeview College of Nursing with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. After being a
bedside registered nurse on a medical-surgical unit at Indiana University Hospital, Laurin then
transitioned to Community Health Network, working mostly within the three Indianapolis area
hospitals among different units such as medical-surgical, orthopedics, neurology, oncology, rehab,
and postpartum care over a seven year period as a resource team nurse. After gaining experience
as a registered nurse, she decided to go back to school to obtain her Master of Science degree in
Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. Laurin has worked as a nurse practitioner in the mental
health setting with geriatric patients as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental
disabilities, primary care setting seeing geriatric patients, and continues to perform compensation
and pension exams for veterans. She has 15 years of experience in the healthcare setting, with
four of those years being a nurse practitioner. She feels passionate about educating patients to
help them live the healthiest version of themselves. By giving patients the necessary tools that will
help them on their weight loss journey today, they will be able to achieve their goals and maintain
their weight into the future. Laurin enjoys traveling, going to indoor cycling classes, volunteering at
Servant’s Heart of Indy, playing board games/trivia, riding bicycles with her husband, Nick, and
spending time with her family and friends.
