Keeping a sense of structure and routine is of essence when spending more time at home. From keeping our mental health in-check to creating a sense of productivity and order, routine is key. For many of us, our daily lives have been thrown off balance and it’s been difficult to find our new normal. First things first, remind yourself: you’ve got this! You will get through this challenging time stronger than you were before. Don’t lose sight of the future and stay focused on your weight loss and wellness goals! With that in mind, here are some tips to help you set a routine.
1. Get up and get dressed: Don’t give in to the urge to sleep all day and stay up late! Waking up and going to bed at the same time every day helps to create a sense of normalcy. Having an intentional structure provides balance and keeps you on a schedule. Wake up at a similar time every day, hop in the shower, have a healthy breakfast, and get dressed for the day. Even if you are working from home, it is important to get dressed.
2. Stick with a routine: Be proactive about your intentional structure. If you are working from home, keep the same hours you would if you were going into your office. Create a schedule of mealtimes, exercise time, chores, family time, etc. Write down your schedule and stick to it. Setting up your day in this way is actually an evidence-based treatment used to treat and prevent depression known as “behavioral activation.”
3. Keep the promises you make to yourself: Continue exercising, eating healthy, and continue your Medi-Weightloss® journey. Most of our locations are offering telemedicine visits. Commit to your commitments and stay on track!
